Alexander hopeful of Blast debut

Logan Alexander

Logan Alexander hopes to make his long-awaited debut for Baltimore Blast against Milwaukee Wake in Wisconsin this weekend.

It has been a frustrating few months for the Bermuda international who missed the first eight matches of the National Indoor Soccer League (NISL) season because of a hold-up with his US visa.

He made the Blast bench last week in the team's defeat against Monterrey La Raza and now the 23-year-old defender insists he is ready for action if, and when, coach Danny Kelly calls upon him this Sunday.

"The excitement is overwhelming," said the former North Village player. "It has been a long process waiting for my visa and sitting on the sidelines . . . watching the games has been torture.

"I have been training hard to impress the coaches and I hope I get a chance to debut this week. I have been attending all home games to support my team-mates and I have been spending time in the gym keeping up my fitness and strength"

The former North Village player will join a defence that is the stingiest in the league, conceding 81 goals in nine games, and are in a strong position at the midway mark of the season, sitting on top of the standings with a game in hand.

"The Blast have been playing very well so far this season so it will be tough to break into the team," said Alexander. "There are some parts of the game I am still learning, but I just try to improve every day.

"The team morale is very high, everybody gets along at practice every day and we all work together to become a better team.

"I'm not sure if it will sink in or not when I do finally get on the pitch but I am looking forward to finding out."
