Alexander ruled out by injury
Former indoor soccer professional Logan Alexander has been ruled out of Bermuda Hogges' double-header against Reading United because of a hamstring injury.
The ex-Baltimore Blast defender joins Ernest Signor (bruised elbow) on the Hogges treatment table although neither injuries are considered serious and both players should be fit for the first away trip of the season early next month.
Hogges coach Scott Morton said he was not overly concerned about Alexander and Signor's unavailability as he had plenty of defensive cover in his 26-man squad.
"We have two players injured and that's why we picked a large squad so we can rotate things. Logan Alexander and Ernest Signor won't be available and are still recovering from their injuries.
"Logan pulled his hamstring last week in training and probably has another week-and-a-half to go before he's fit. No disrespect to Logan but all of the other players who play in his position have stepped up and that's encouraging.
"When he comes back he will strengthen the squad even further."
Alexander signed pro terms with Blast in November, 2009, after impressing during trials with the National Indoor Soccer League (NISL) team.
But the national team player was unable to force his way into their starting line-up and was released at the end of the season. He then had trials at USL-D2 side Harrisburg City Islanders before signing for the Hogges.
Possible Hogges starting XI: F.Hall, R.Lee, D.Tankard, M.Waldron, A.Gibbons, S.Darrell, J.Peniston, N.Wells, D.Ming, K.Bean, T.Burgess
