Athletes head for East Coast meet

Pacers and Flyers Track clubs will be heading off to the Russell Blunt East Coast meet at Duke University in Raleigh, North Carolina this week.

The meet begins on Friday, running through to Sunday.

Pacers, with 25 athletes and parents, leave tomorrow while the Flyers, with 24 athletes and parents, fly out on Thursday.

Several of Bermuda's Carifta Games athletes will be taking part in what, traditionally, has proved to be a competitive meet.

Pacers have been taking part in the Russell Blunt event for several years, but for Flyer this will be only the second year they have participated.

Meanwhile, Bermuda middle distance runner Michael Donawa again failed in his bid to reach the Olympic qualifying standard when he competed in the Keien track meet in the Netherlands over the weekend.

Donawa placed 16th overall in the 800 metres in a time of 1:52.73.
