Bascome to rejoin Blazers
Boulevard Blazers have pulled off a major coup with confirmation that highly-respected coach Andrew Bascome and assistant national coach Richard Todd have agreed to take over coaching duties at the Premier Division club during the upcoming 2008-09 season.
The pair are no strangers to the Blazers' set-up having proudly suited up in the red, gold and green club in the past.
Bascome, in particular, enjoyed a highly successful stint at Boulevard who he guided to multiple league and cup honours in the 1990s with a team blended with youth and experience in a duel capacity as player/coach.
And it is this winning chemistry that the Blazers are keen to rekindle.
The club finished fifth in the Premier Division and reached the semi-final of the FA Cup for the second straight year during the last domestic campaign.
When contacted, Boulevard president Steven Proctor confirmed that Bascome's services had been secured for the upcoming season and promised to divulge more details on the deal that has brought one of the best football brains back to the club.
Both Bascome and new deputy Todd could not be reached for comment yesterday.
Last season saw Bascome coach First Division St.David's Warriors to Shield glory following a successful coaching stint at Premier Division Devonshire Cougars, who he coached to maiden Premier Division and Friendship Trophy titles in 2004-05.
Todd, who was recently appointed assistant national coach, is an ex-director at US-based Vestavia Hills soccer club and his coaching experience and expertise should also prove to be a valuable asset for a Blazers team that have shown promise in recent seasons.
