Bean hands Blazers win
Devonshire Colts 0
Boulevard Blazers 1
Goalkeeper Andrew Jjombwe saved Boulevard's blushes as his late game heroics ensured his side came away with a victory over Devonshire Colts at Police Field.
Jjombwe saved second half Quincy Aberdeen penalty in after Chae Simmons bought down Aberdeen.
However, just how Colts' season has gone, Aberdeen made a hash of his effort, with the Blazers stopper going diving to his left to deny the equaliser.
Keemo Bean scored the only goal of the match in the first half when a driven cross from the right flank beat two defenders in the Colts area with Bean on hand to slot home past 'keeper Jermaine Nesbitt.
The second half saw Colts have the better of play with Mcree Pace having a few good looks at goal along with Andre Famous, but neither could find the target.
BJ Payne had a chance to increase Blazers' advantage when he took what seemed to be a harmless free kick just inside Colts area.
With the wind carrying the ball extra distance, Nesbitt was left to fend for himself and watched in horror as the ball floated his way.
Luckily for the Colts shot stopper the ball crashed against the cross bar and was eventually cleared.
The win sees both sides remain where they are in the standings, with Boulevard in third and Colts still bottom.
North Village 0
Hamilton Parish 1
Hamilton Parish left Bernard Park yesterday on cloud nine after chalking up a famous win over fading North Village in a match of few chances.
A Chris Caisey goal right after the interval was all the visitors needed to bag a fifth league win of the season, which went some way towards avenging a 2004-05 FA Cup final loss to the Rams.
Caisey beat Rams' 'keeper Jason Williams to a loose ball in the box and was left with the easiest of tasks of slotting into an empty net.
Rams had an opportunity to grab an equaliser on a set-piece in the closing minutes. But a well-positioned Pierre Smith shot wide to enable Hot Peppers to cling to their lead to the sweet end. Parish's inspiring win catapulted them past Southampton Rangers in the Premier Division standings into fifth place, one-point behind Rams.
Hot Peppers will close out the campaign next weekend against Rangers at Wellington Oval, while Rams travel to the Devonshire Rec. to take on league leaders Devonshire Cougars in a contest that could decide the championship.
