Bermuda are done learning
Bermuda women's hockey coach Gareth Tavares is confident that his side have done their learning and will be ready to get down to business when the Pan American Cup starts tomorrow.
Despite losing five-nil to Jamaica in their second warm-up friendly at the National Sports Centre last night, Bermuda played well enough in patches to suggest that they will be a much tougher proposition a second time around.
"We've done our learning now. The Canadian game was far cleaner, they are far more skilful, they use their skills to get through," he said.
"The Jamaicans rely on their pace and their physicality. They are very tall, strong players and you could see that they had that extra yard on us, and with their strength as well.
"It took the first ten minutes for the players to get used to it, but we were far better in the second half, and I think something we need to work on is making sure we get out of the starting gate.
And Tavares has already decided what his starting XI will be for the game against Canada tomorrow, however he also hinted that he may make a late change to his squad before this morning's deadline.
"I'm pretty confident that I know what my team is going to be, it won't be much different to what we started with tonight.
"I wanted to have a look at them, and I'm very comfortable with the personnel I'm going to rely on during the tournament.
"We will make a decision tonight (Thursday) because we are allowed to make a change before the morning's meeting. There is a little bit of thinking to do and speaking to the people involved, and we'll make the call in the morning."
