ICC Americas minnows Argentina celebrated a maiden win over Bermuda at the senior national level in Argentina yesterday.

After recording successive wins over their hosts over the weekend, a Bermuda developmental squad were denied a hat-trick of victories under sunny skies at the St.Alban's Club as their batsman proved unequal to the task of chasing a target below 200 runs.

Earlier, the tourists did well to restrict the Argentines to 189 for five to place themselves in a commanding position.

But in reply Bermuda's brittle batting order could only muster 146 runs before eventually folding in the 48th over to hand their hosts an historic and inspiring 43-run win.

The Argentine's win went some way towards avenging last month's loss to Bermuda during the Americas Championship in Florida.

It also raised their confidence ahead of next month's World Cricket League (WCL) Division Three tournament in the South American country more renowned for its exploits on the football pitch.

Delyone Borden, Tamauri Tucker, Jordan Desilva and Rodney Trott all claimed a wicket each after early order batsmen Lucas Paterlin (75) and Alejandro Ferguson (57) got their team's innings off to a flyer.

Middle order batsman Estaban MacDermont (15) also managed double figures after Savage was bowled by a Tucker delivery and Donny Forrester was run out for six.

Bermuda's seamers had a tough time yesterday with only Somerset bowler Jordan Desilva (one for 22) enjoying some degree of success.

However after making an early breakthrough by removing opener David Mauro (six) cheaply, there was little else to cheer in Bermuda's bowling.

In reply, Borden led Bermuda's batting with a top score of 38 followed by Oronde Bascome (18), Tucker (14), skipper Irving Romaine (11) and 15-year old senior squad debutant Joshua Gilbert who chipped in with ten batting at number four.

Master blaster Glenn Blakeney, who had an eight-ball duck, and in-form opener Chris Douglas (two) were among those misfiring at the crease as Bermuda slumped to their first loss on tour.

Gary Savage, MacDermont and Augustin Casime each took two wickets to lead the Argentine attack.

The two teams will do battle again today in a Twenty/20 affair at the St.Alban's Club.
