Bermuda get back on track with win
St. Vincent & The Grenadines Under 23's 85/6
Bermuda 103/2
Duckworth/Lewis required Bermuda to chase 102 runs in 20 overs
Bermuda exacted revenge against St. Vincent and the Grenadines Under-23 squad yesterday, beating the hosts by eight wickets in a rain-interrupted match.
The side got back to winning ways after their defeat to the same opposition with Kevin Hurdle, Justin Pitcher, George O'Brien Jr., and Dwayne Leverock being rested for the match.
Cut down to a 20/20 due to rain throughout the day, skipper Irving Romaine won the toss and elected to field with the game being cut down to 30 overs per side at the outset.
And the bowlers went about their duties with deadly accuracy, having their hosts 19 for 4 and in serious trouble after seven overs.
After 22 overs the U-23's were 85 for six when rain halted their innings, with the umpires announcing that Bermuda were to chase a total of 102 runs from –20 overs following the Duckworth/Lewis system coming into effect.
Janeiro Tucker was the chief bowler, taking three wickets, while Stephen Outerbridge snatched two wickets along with Jacobi Robinson who grabbed one.
In reply Bermuda got off to a slow start, with both openers Lionel Cann (11) and Chris Douglas (3) back in the pavilion early without troubling the score.
From 22/2 after four overs to 56 for two after 10, the match was all but over barring a collapse of the highest order
Fiqre Crockwell (29) and Stephen Outerbridge (46) guided the side home, with both ending the day unbeaten.
Today is a rest day for the squad with a fixture scheduled for tomorrow.
