Bermuda highlighted on TV's top angling show

The delights of angling in Bermuda will be shown on one of the biggest fishing shows in the world during May.

In December, celebrity angler Mariko Izumi, who is the star of the World Fishing Network's "Hookin' Up" show, went in search of fish off the Island in Captain Sinclair Lambe's boat Mega Bucks.

Yesterday a spokesman for WFN, which is shown on CableVision channel 102 and also in HD on channel 443, said the Bermuda episode of "Hookin' Up" will air on May 10 at 8.30 p.m. and reshown on May 16 at 10 p.m.

Izumi, who travels the world in search of the best places to drop a line, is currently filming her second season on the popular show.

Izumi has a large following among viewers and WFN describes her as "every guy's fishing fantasy: she's smart, sexy, and loves to be out on the water. Whether it's cooking with a world famous chef, partying at the wildest hotspot in town or fishing with some of the best anglers, Mariko is sure to get us excited."

Launched in August last year, WFN is the only 24/7 network dedicated to fishing, with programming that covers instruction, tips, tournaments, travel, food, boating, outdoor lifestyle and more.

WFN's coverage includes a selection of the best international series and the most diverse species coverage of any outdoor network. The network offers viewers insight from a variety of world-renowned professional anglers.

While in Bermuda, Izumi fished on Challenger and Argus Banks aboard Mega Bucks and was also accompanied by CableVision plant manager and local angler, Mike Jones.

Izumi said on her website: "I've been busy shooting season two and I've been having an amazing time! So far, I've visited Montreal, (Washington) DC, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, New Jersey, Philadelphia, St. Petersburg, Miami, Belize, Nashville and Bermuda.

"I've done everything from shark fishing to trapeze school and I'm really excited for you to see all the fun stuff I've been up to."

The Bermuda episode is number 12 this season and is called "Cookin' and Tuna fishing".

It also includes Izumi participating in the Christmas Boat Parade, fishing for tuna and cooking her delicious catch.
