Blazers finish with a bang!

Jahmah Samuels nets Boulevard's fourth goal in his side's 5-3 drubbing of Dandy Town in yesterday's FA Cup final at the National Sports Centre.

Boulevard ripped apart a shell-shocked Dandy Town in yesterday's FA Cup final to win Blazers very own messiah Andrew Basome a trophy in his first season back at his old stomping ground.

Bascome, who was Blazers' talisman when they last won a piece of silverware – the FA Cup – 17 years' ago, watched his team completely dominate a lethargic looking Hornets from the outset at the National Sports Centre on Easter Sunday.

Blazers had displayed evidence all season that they were slowly returning to the powerhouse they had been during their esteemed coach's heyday, finishing runners-up in the Premier Division and Dudley Eve, but finally completed their resurrection yesterday.

No player encapsulated their thrilling performance more than inspiration skipper Takeyhi Walker who has enjoyed a transformation of his own this season, evolving from a decent top-flight player to one of the league's standout performers.

The powerful striker, who cuts a far more slimline figure these days, bagged a brace, made a goal-line clearance and even filled in at right back during the final minutes to earn the praise from his delighted coach.

"Takeyhi Walker was inspirational for us – he's a beautiful player," said Bascome, whose Bascome FC defeated Somerset Eagles Academy 2-1 in the Under-18 Knockout Cup earlier in the afternoon.

"I'm proud of all my players but I thought Takeyhi Walker, Angel Simmons and Mel Gibbons were all superb for us. I'm very pleased with our performance and we probably should have scored more than five goals. It's definitely a relief to finish the season with a trophy and we saved the best for last."

If Blazers' first goal was thanks to a slice of luck after Town defender Seion Darrell volleyed into his own net from a Simmons cross, their second was down to some individual brilliance by Walker who crashed home a bouncing ball past goalkeeper Mikkail Crockwell after Hornets failed to clear.

But Hornets were soon back in the game when Michael Parsons was adjudged to have handled in the box with Hornets striker Raymond Beach stroking home from the penalty spot.

Despite the setback Blazers continued to attack with real purpose and restored their advantage through man of the match Walker who hit a venomous volley from the edge of the box.

Although the showpiece final was only 12 minutes underway, Blazers had all but buried any chance of a Hornets revival, especially after Jahmah Samuels tapped home after Crockwell had made a hash of a Gibbons free kick.

The second half saw Blazers take their foot of the gas slightly but still they created chances with Angelo Simmons' pace and Mel Gibbons' guile stretching and probing Hornets' defence.

Young full back Riecko Trott then got in on the act, heading home Parsons' devilish corner kick to send the Blazers supporters in raptures and although Hornets pulled two goals back through Antwon Russell and Beach, in truth the scoreline flattered Scott Morton's side.
