Boyles rules out return to the Rec.

Devarr Boyles has dampened speculation linking him with a return to defending Premier Division champions Devonshire Cougars.

Boyles, who led Cougars to the title and Martonmere Cup last season, believes it would be almost impossible to coach a domestic club and perform his duties as Bermuda Football Association's (BFA) full-time youth director.

He said he was aware of media reports claiming he could be the solution to Cougars' coaching dilemma by re-taking the reins at the Den, but insisted he had not spoken with officials from the club.

Cougars' attempts to replace Boyles, who resigned at the end of the last campaign, have so far proved fruitless, and it is understood the club approached the BFA regarding the possibility of their former coach helping them out this term.

But Boyles, 38, yesterday said he was fully focused on his all-encompassing position as the BFA's youth director.

"It's extremely unlikely that I would ever be able to coach in the domestic league as well as being Bermuda's youth director," said Boyles.

"I haven't got enough time to do this job let alone coach Cougars as well."

There has been much hype surrounding who will succeed Coach of the Year Boyles with Boulevard boss Andrew Bascome, ex-Blazers coach John Rebello, assistant Hogges coach Jack Castle, ex-Hereford defender Meshach Wade as well as former goalkeepers Mark Jennings and Dwayne (Streaker) Adams all thought to be on Cougars' shortlist.

It is believed Bascome has also been approached by Dandy Town to replace Scott Morton who has ruled out rejoining Hornets as he wants to devote all his energy to preparing Bermuda under-23s for their Pan-Am and Olympic qualifiers.

"I'll definitely not be returning as coach of Dandy Town next season," said Morton, who lifted the Dudley Eve with Hornets last season.

"I don't think a national team coach should also be coaching at a domestic club."
