Hurricane Jose threatened to disrupt things at Coney Island.

In the end it was a good day for racing as Gary Cann swept the 60cc class for the second straight week, making it six wins in a row and an 11-race streak stretching back to March 28.

It was a closer contest for second and third places between Randy Munro and Tullio Escolastica where just two points separated them. Cann and Munro would later do battle in the 80cc class where Cann placed third behind second year rider Nicholas Hassell who pulled off an upset with a first and two seconds, and Jimmy Lee Weaver with a seventh and two firsts.

Hassell's win in the first moto was his first ever and he followed it up with two seconds to claim his first overall to lead the standings with 39 points.

Weaver has 34 and Cann 30.

Lorenzo Burch had his best finish, second in the first moto, and finished fourth overall. Steven Panchaud won the 80 modified class over Melone Munro.

Last weekend's 125C winner Craig Panchaud repeated that feat with his second hat-trick of the new season as Treadwell Nesbitt was second again after brake problems slowed him down. Steven Oughton was third, up one place from the previous weekend.

Three-time 125B champion, Aaron Pace, began the defence of his title with three wins to take his overall win total to 186.

Otis Ingham got the closest to Pace but could not pass him. Neilson DeGraff finished third. Zahkie Iris was the only rider in the 50cc class and finished with 30 points to lead the standings.

The next race days are November 11 and 14 which will feature guest riders from the United States.

Aaron Pace: Won his 186th career race at the weekend.
