Coach Smith taking nothing for granted
Knights' coach Keishon Smith will not be drawn into talking up his team's chances of landing their first ever Island Soccer League (ISL) championship ahead of their crunch semi-final with heated rivals Storm tonight.
Storm, who thrashed Titans in their last match, will be keen to avenge their two defeats against the Knights in the regular season.
And Smith, who guided his side to the ACE Blue Division title, is quietly preparing his side for what he anticipates will be another titanic battle at the National Sports Centre.
"We didn't come into the season looking to win the division, it was about the title, and all the hard work don't mean a thing if we don't win the ring," said Smith.
"This is where we're coming from, we want it, and we know it's close but we must continue to work hard.
"It makes no sense in talking about who we want to play and then lose before we get there, so we will look at tonight's game as if it's the final.
"Whoever ends up in the final will be the best two teams, and hopefully after tonight it will be us against either Kings or Arsenal."
The division champions beat Storm, 7-5 and 7-3 in the regular season but Smith knows Andrew Bascome's side are a tough act to face at this stage of the ISL competition.
"The previous matches (against Storm) have been hard fought but we managed to come out on top," Smith said.
"But they are a very good team, well coached and have danger men in Domico Coddington and Kwame Steede, so it makes it to be a very interesting contest."
In the other semi-final match, CellularOne Red Division winners Kings will play Arsenal for a third time this term.
The Kings emerged 7-3 winners in the first match while Arsenal won the second game 9-6.
The two teams meet at 7.30 tonight and the Knights battle it out against the Storm at 8.45 p.m.
