Coddington named in USL All-Star team

Domico Coddington's standout performances for Bermuda Hogges have been recognised by their rival USL-D2 coaches after being named in the league All-Star second team.

It means the Devonshire Cougars' striker, who scored four goals last season, is rated as one of the top four strikers in the professional league.

The Bermuda international said he was surprised to learn about his honour and stressed he still harboured hopes of turning professional.

"I had no idea to be honest," said Coddington last night after a Cougars pre-season training session.

"It's good to hear about that and I'm pretty happy about it. It's been my best season for the Hogges. Overall the team slipped up a few times and didn't get what we deserved."

He added: "It's always been a dream to play professional even if it's just for one season and I would give it my all. If it were to happen it would be a blessing.

"I haven't spoken to the Hogges about it but I'm aware they have contacts with other big teams. At the moment I'm just concentrating on doing my best for Devonshire Cougars."

Hogges co-owner Paul Scope said Coddington had been Hogges' main attacking threat last term.

"We are very proud of Domico in making the USL-D2 All-Star second team, which puts him into the top four strikers in the league," he said.

"These honours are voted on by other USL coaches and you cannot vote for your own player.

"It was like having a new player with an uninjured Coddy in the squad. He started the season with a bang and even though the goals dried up, somewhat, he still presented our main threat to our opposing defences."

Coddington, 24, has previously had trials at USL-D1 outfit Atlanta Silverbacks, MLS team New England Revolution and Serie C side AS Acireala.
