Cougars coach banned for entire season
Devonshire Cougars coach Gary (Tubba) Mallory has been slapped with a year-long ban following an ugly incident during this season's Martonmere Cup semi-final clash with Boulevard.
Cougars lost the game 2-1 and during the course of the April 10 encounter, Mallory's emotions got the better of him.
He was subsequently charged by Bermuda Football Association with threatening the referee and verbally abusing match officials, and will now miss the whole of the 2010-2011 football season.
The latest round of disciplinary hearings have not been kind to Cougars, who as a club have been placed on a year's probation for failing to control a member of the club during an Under-10 youth match.
And Under-16 team member Jaciano Furbert-Wade has been suspended for four games and placed on two years' probation following a game against North Village were he attempted to assault the referee.
Cougars will also have to play the first two games of next season without defender Joshua Butterfield, who was hit with a ban for standing on an opponent's back during a bad tempered clash with PHC in March which Cougars lost 2-1.
Zebras defender Omar Shakir was also sent off during that game, and will miss the first four games of next season after being charged with violent conduct and failing to leave the field following his sending off.
Meanwhile, X'Roads Warriors player Brian Anderson has been given a two-year ban and placed on probation following his sending off in a game against Robin Hood on February 21.
