Reid 28, S Russell 38Bermuda's Pan Am Cup finished yesterday much as it began, goalless and in defeat.

Gareth Tavares' side slipped to their fifth loss of the tournament, conceding their 48th and 49th goals of the week in the process.

Strikes from Krystal Reid and Sharee Russell were enough to give Jamaica a win they just about deserved over a host nation who threatened on occasion, and a couple of times came close to breaking their goal-drought.

It was a better all round performance from Bermuda, with Jess Hollis and Liz Hartley both having half chances in the first half.

And in defence the unforced errors that had plauged much of their tournament where less obvious.

Tavares' side enjoyed long spells of possession and but for a bit of luck Joann Smith might have put them ahead early on.

Jamaica though took more and more control as the half went on, and Krystal Reid finally gave them the lead just before the break.

Even then Jess McClure might have grabbed her side's first goal of the tournament on the stroke of half time when she fired just wide from a penalty corner.

Three minutes after the break and they fell further behind, with Sharee Russell capitalising on a mistake in the Bermuda defence to double her side's total.

The rest of the second half followed a similar pattern to the first, with Bermuda enjoying lengthy spells of possession, but just failing to make it count.

Jamaica meanwhile came close on occasion, but their indiscipline let them down at crucial times.

Eventually frustration crept into the game, with McClure and Jamaica's Dadreann Clarke both being sin-binned for unnecessary fouls, and the game petered out as the clock wound down.

In yesterday's other games, Canada finished on a high thumping Mexico 10-1.

Thea Culley bagged a first half hat-trick as Canada stormed into an eight-nil lead. Chile finished in third place, beating Trinidad and Tobago 2-1.
