Lady Cougars overcame a two goal half-time deficit to run out 4-2 winners over Lady Rams in a high octane Women's Charity Cup at BAA Field on Saturday night.

The ladies from the 'Den' laid to rest the possibility of North Village claiming both the Men's and Women's trophies with goals from Cleshaunay Virgil, Cheyra Bell and two from Tamisha Dill.

Yet they were made to sweat for the majority of the game with the Lady Rams seemingly in control of the proceedings going into the half, which was started off by a magnificent free kick from Chloe Martin in the 17th minute, which got the Rams on the board.

Martin, arguably Lady Rams most influential player, drove a 25-yard bullet that smashed against the underside of the crossbar, bouncing over the line before coming back out. However, the linesman was on hand to reward the goal.

The Rams then doubled their lead when Deonna Hill out paced the Lady Cougars defense and slotted her chance away in the 30th minute.

When Lady Cougars got themselves on the score sheet via a Tamisha Darrell goal six minutes after Dill's goal, there was a glimmer of hope that they could possibly find a way to get back in the match.

And whatever was said at the break struck a chord as Darrell grabbed the equalized in the 57th minute which was followed by Cougars taking their first lead of the match in the 75th minute when a long ball forward had the North Village back line stretched, allowing Cheyra Bell to get the ball and squaring the ball to Virgil who tapped in from close range.

And Bell ended the game as a contest in the 86th minute as she was on the receiving end of a through ball and had the simple task of slotting the ball past the keeper.

In the end, Lady Cougars ran out 4-2 and retained the Charity Cup, a trophy that they have never relinquished.
