Double medal glory in Cayman Islands
Bermuda athletes continued their medal success with Allison Outerbridge and Taylor Ashley-Bean both winning bronze at the Carifta Games in Cayman Islands.
Outerbridge leaped 12.10 metres in the under-20 womens triple jump, while Ashley-Bean finished the under-20 womens 3,000m in a time of 10 minutes 47 seconds 84 on Sunday.
Ashley Berry, who won a bronze medal at last year's Games, came fourth with a finish of 10:55.29.
On Saturday, Bermuda claimed three medals with sprinter Jeneko Place winning the silver in the boys under-17 100m, Juma Mouchette (boys under-17 1,500m) and Jasmine Brunson (girls under-20 long jump) took bronze.
Yesterday Tristan Joynes failed to qualify for the mens 110m hurdles boys under-20 final, finishing ninth in a time of 14.82.
Henry Stevens-Carty and Shaquille Dill were scheduled to compete in the 800m finals last night.
n In the Carifta Swimming Championships, held in Jamaica, Emma Franklin has wo bronze medals in both the 50m and the 100m backstroke in the girls 13 and 14 age group.
She broke Rebecca Sharpe's 50m record in the group preliminaries.
"Emma's hard work and focus this season is paying off with fast swims at this meet. She has met one of her qualifying times for this summers CISC with that swim", says Coach Ben Smith.
Eight swimmers are representing Bermuda against 19 other countries in Kingston.
In Saturday's finals Nicole Yearwood finished seventh in the 100m butterfly and Morgan Hopkins came 6th in the 200m breaststroke.
Last night, Morgan Hopkins was due to compete in the 400 individual medley.
Stephanie Myles came ninth in the final of the girls 15-17 400m individual medley in the 15 to 17 age group at the weekend.
The Championships finish tomorrow.
