Durham: Away win essential for Colts

Devonshire Colts defender –Coolridge Durham believes his side can take a giant leap early on in their quest for survival if they can beat Southampton Rangers tomorrow at Southampton Oval.

Colts are currently in eighth place with one point, one point above Somerset Eagles and tomorrow's opponents who haven't registered a point yet in the –campaign.

Noting how things have gone for the club in the past, Durham–reckons that a win on the road will see the side take a massive step towards evading a relegation battle later on in the season.

And with a game in hand against Eagles, the match could hold that much more signifigance to the club.

"The game is of the utmost importance because you need to beat the teams around you, especially when you look at how things are at the moment," said Durham.

"We have a game in hand against Somerset Eagles, but that doesn't guarantee us anything.

"It does put us in a position that if we can win tomorrow's game we will have a bit of breathing space and get us out of the lower end of the table, a place we have been for the past few years.

"The game in hand is neither a disadvantage or a negative because it all depends on how we receive the game.

"People forget that we aren't at full strength too with all the players we have away in school and so forth, so we are looking to make some inroads into moving from the our current position and make a climb up towards the top."

Elsewhere in tomorrow's other matches, North Village hosts –Devonshire Cougars in the match of the day at Bernard Park.

The Rams, in conjunction with Bermuda Health and Cancer Centre will be hosting their second annual Kicks for Cancer Day event.

In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness month, and to –acknowledge NVCC's support in the fight against cancer, the –Premier Division players will be –sporting pink jerseys and all –Village fans have been encouraged to wear pink in an attempt to 'paint Bernard's Park' the official colour of Breast Cancer Awareness.

At halftime, the club's executives will be presenting representatives from the Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre with a cheque for money raised through the sale oft-shirts and other fund raising initiatives.
