East All-Stars tops in cricket festival
The East Under-11 All-Stars defeated the West Under-11 All-Stars by 82 runs in the Hiscox Celebrity Cricket Festival on Saturday, while the Celebrities crashed to defeat in their clash with the Under-11 All-Star team.
The East youngsters scored 128 batting first with Aaron Burgess leading the way with 12 while Charclaire Lambe was the best bowler for the West, taking three wickets for nine runs.
In reply, the West fell well short in their run chase as they were bowled out for 46.
Rudy Butterfield was the top scorer with 14 while Aaron Nelson took four wickets for four runs.
Nelson was named MVP and team-mate Zion Smith's running catch was voted play of the game.
In the Celebrity match, Mike Jackman scored nine runs as the Celebrities scored 72 with Joseph Basden taking two wickets for fives for the U-11 All-Stars.
In reply the All-Stars scored 73 with the winning runs coming in the final over.
Sean Tucker the top scorer with 14 in a winning cause. Rebecca Gibbons took a catch off her own bowling to claim the play of the game award,while singer David Roache was voted the Celebrity of the game.
Tucker was voted the U-11's MVP for his contribution with the bat.
