Enjoy the tournament . . . and help out Haiti

I am hoping that fans will come out today and tomorrow to watch our young players take on the youth teams of West Ham and St. Etienne at the National Sports Centre in the tournament named after me.

I certainly feel honoured to have the tournament named after me and we have seen it grow and grow over the past few years. We have worked very hard over the years to make this a top youth tournament and it just gets better and better.

This is where our youngsters can measure themselves and perhaps even get spotted by overseas coaches. It is where they can put their best foot forward and show what they can do.

And one of the most important things at this weekend's tournament is that we will be collecting donations to help with the earthquake relief in Haiti. What has happened down there is terrible and any little thing we can do will help.

Whenever we start feeling sorry for ourselves here in Bermuda, I would suggest turn your TV on and look at what's happening in Haiti. Hopefully we can collect some money for them. Every little bit helps.

Looking back on the matches over the past week I can see the Premier League relegation fight in England going down to the last game. And so I was very happy that West Ham got a 2-0 victory and all three points against Birmingham in midweek. We are now out of the relegation zone sitting in 14th place.

But that is a bit deceptive since Wolves, Wigan and Hull are also on 24 points with us and then Burnley and Bolton are just one point behind.

Things definitely don't look good for Portsmouth who are at the bottom with 16 points and were crushed by Manchester United last weekend. They have an FA Cup match against their big rivals Southampton this weekend and will be looking for something good to happen since the news lately for the club has not been good.

As for West Ham we are going to have to win those games against the other clubs who are in the same situation as us. And then we will have to see what we can get out of the other games.

It is going to be very important to win our home games. In the next month or so we will host Hull, Bolton and Wolves. Those are the games we must win. In between we are away to Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal and they are going to be very tough.

Against the likes of United, Chelsea and Arsenal we have to play like Everton did midweek when they beat Chelsea 2-1. Everton do not have the money or players like Chelsea but they have heart and that is what you need against top clubs.

Get in their face....don't allow them time on the ball....work hard, very hard. You have to deny them space as Everton did.

I have to say Saha showed his class for Everton with two goals ¿ in fact he could have had a hat trick had Czech not saved his penalty. I understand Saha just signed an extension to his contract at Everton and the club must be happy with that.

Saha has always been a class player but he has suffered from injuries. Hopefully those are in the past now because any team worth their salt would like to have him.

With the FA Cup this weekend many teams will have a break and I know Sir Alex Ferguson will welcome some time off. Manchester United have to fly to Italy next week for their first leg of the Champions League against AC Milan. This promises to be a cracking tie and should be good on the eye with the way both teams play.

Arsenal have to travel to Porto and they will be boosted by their 1-0 win over Liverpool midweek.

It was a result Arsenal needed and they are now back in the title race only six points behind leaders Chelsea and five behind Manchester United. And Arsenal have got their so called big games out of the way now. Don't count them out.

United managed a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa in midweek but they saw Nani given a straight red card and also Giggs go out with what they say now is a broken arm. I thought Nani should have been given a yellow card for his tackle. It wasn't like he went in over the top. He won the ball so lets see if he appeals because as of now he will miss the Carling Cup final....as will Giggs. It is a shame really because Nani has been playing so good lately.
