Fox off as St David's are well beaten
St David's coach Kanevon Fox was sent to the stands as the poor behaviour that has plagued football in Bermuda this season reared it's ugly head once more at Devonshire Rec.
Fox became involved in a heated exchange with referee Antoine Augustus during the course of the game after a strong challenge on one of his players went unpunished during his side's Dudley Eve clash with Somerset Trojans.
The St David's boss was heard to violently curse the official for a period of several minutes following the challenge and was eventually sent off.
Augustus is likely to include the entire incident in his match report and Fox could be facing a lengthy ban.
Only last week Devonshire Colts boss Ray Jones was believed to have been handed a two-year ban by the Bermuda Football Association after being involved in a similar incident.
The episode only added insult to the injury that St David's suffered as they were soundly beaten by Somerset Trojans.
Trojans were by far the better side for much of the game, and their performance has set up a mouth-watering encounter, as the competition nears its climax, with rivals Somerset Eagles at Somerset Cricket Club tomorrow night.
Somerset Trojans set up a mouth-watering Somerset derby after dismantling St. David's at Devonshire Rec. in the First Division Dudley Eve.
A brace by Adrian Burrows and a Tahj Wade strike ensured that Trojans prolonged their Dudley Eve run at the expense of St.David's yesterday. Trojans started the stronger of the two teams and struck twice inside the first half through Burrows and Wade with St. David's never really looking like clawing their way back from their deficit.
Burrows' opener came midway through the first half with Wade doubling Trojans' advantage just before half time when his right-footed effort took a deflection en-route to the net.
The second-period saw Trojans continue to dominate with Burrows scoring his second four minutes from time with a close range finish after Marcelus Dill's well-taken free-kick was only parried by the St. David's goalkeeper.
Trojan's next opponents in the festive tournament, Eagles, were defeated by St George's in a penalty shootout on Boxing Day.
After the match Trojan's captain Jelani Scott praised his team-mates for their outstanding performance and clinical finishing.
"We played solid from the get-go from the back right up to the front. We finished our chances and that made it easy," said the Bermuda Hogges player.
"Once we put out chances away the game was straightforward and we basically just had to contain them.
"The thing about our previous game in the tournament against St. George's was that we didn't put our chances away and that came back to haunt us.
"But we came out today and got the job done and now we can move on.
"Our next match is against Eagles up at Somerset which is a derby and I told the guys that we just have to put in a little more effort then we did today and we will be ok.
"We are trying to build up momentum for the second half of the season because we need to make up ground and carry on our progression."
