Fox takes over TV football coverage
Fox Soccer Plus will replace Setanta Sports which will cease distribution in the Caribbean at the end of this month.
Bermuda CableVision general manager, Terry Roberson said yesterday: "Fox Sports International has acquired a significant amount of the programming offered by Setanta, and has integrated this content into Fox Soccer Plus along with a substantial amount of new, exclusive programming.
"Most importantly for fans of English football, Fox Sports International owns the rights to show the Barclays Premier League so there will be no gap in coverage of these popular matches."
And Stanley Wright, president of WOW, said: "In essence, this changeover offers sports fans even more of what they want to see without losing any of the programming they currently enjoy. We hope viewers will enjoy the enhancements."
CableVision said customers of the current MaxPack sports package, which includes SportsMax (Channel 350) and Setanta Sports (channel 351), will enjoy a "smooth transition" to the new network on March 1.
WOW subscribers can continue to tune into SportsMax on Channel 601 and Fox Soccer Plus will be shown on Channel 600, replacing Setanta Sports in the line-up. Subscription fees for the MaxPack package on CableVision and WOW will remain unchanged at $22 per month.
As part of the transition, from July 1 SportsMax will no longer be available individually and will be offered only via the MaxPack package. Those customers affected by this change will be contacted in due course.
Fox Soccer Plus includes the following exclusive content: Football: Barclays Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, Carling Cup, Coca-Cola Championship, Italian Serie A and 108 matches.
There is also Guinness Premiership rugby, Heineken Cup rugby and Magners League rugby.
