Furbert appeal dismissed

A Bermuda Football Association (BFA) Appeals Committee has upheld a one-year probation recently imposed on PHC president Chris Furbert.

The former BFA executive and Bermuda Industrial Union (BIU) leader is alleged to have made "inappropriate remarks" at a referee following a Premier Division clash at Southampton Oval last October involving PHC and Dandy Town.

PHC lost the match 2-1 as Hornets came from behind to snatch three vital points.

Furbert was reportedly upset by the performance of referee Anthony Mouchette and after the final whistle allegedly confronted the official to vent his disapproval, which ultimately led to him being summoned before a BFA disciplinary committee.

Earlier this season, Devonshire Colts coach Ray Jones had a one-year probation for also making inappropriate remarks at a referee increased to a two-year ban after an appeal.

Jones, who was also stripped of his duties as BFA treasurer, is alleged to have voiced his displeasure over the officiating of referee Ronue Cann during a Premier clash at St.John's Field last November involving Colts and Hornets.

The banned coach is now reportedly taking his case to arbitration via the Ministry of Sport's Alternate Dispute Resolution Panel in the hopes of clearing his name.
