Games put back as storm threatens

Bermuda national team are braced for their second hurricane just 48 hours after being mercilessly swept aside by Antigua's attack.

Tropical Storm Gustav is inching closer to Grand Cayman with the tiny island in the Western Caribbean Sea placed on hurricane alert yesterday.

Organisers have postponed today's matches between Bermuda and St.Martin, and Cayman against Antigua until tomorrow with category one hurricane Gustav forecast to strike later today.

Team manager Stan Bean made an urgent trip to the supermarket yesterday to stock up on provisions with the team confined to the hotel today.

Head of delegation Anthony Francis said: "Today's games have officially been called off as we prepare for Tropical Storm Gustav.

"The players are all safe and will bed down in the hotel today unless we hear any different. We have got enough supplies to last us throughout the day so we'll be fine.

"I believe the Cayman government will shut off electricity and water this afternoon."
