Gibbons recovering after suffering stroke

Gershon Gibbons, the Western Stars all-rounder, is making steady progress in a Boston rehabilitation after suffering a stroke last month.

The veteran cricketer was airlifted to Lahey Clinic for treatment and later transfered to a rehab centre where, according to reports, he has made positive steps towards recovery.

"Gershon suffered a stroke but all indications are that he is making steady progress with his rehab," a Western Stars source told The Royal Gazette. "From what I understand he has taken his rehab on pretty good and gradually regaining use of his left side and progressing very well."

The left-arm spinner and middle order batsman, who cut his teeth at Flatts, is one of the last survivors of the Stars team that dominated the earlier part of decade under the captaincy of Albert Steede.

Cal Blankendal, the former Western Stars Sports Club president, is scheduled to fly to Boston to lend his support to Gibbons.
