College student Freddy Hall produced a masterful performance in between the posts for St. George's as they saw off a spirited Somerset Eagles side 3-1 on penalties to book their place in the New Year's Day final.

The US Quinnipiac School shot-stopper, who was named to the Northeast Conference All-Tournament team, showed why he is considered one of the best up and coming goalkeepers on the Island, making his presence felt in the penalty shoot-out.

"I have been in these sort of situations throughout my playing career, so it was just another day at the office," said Hall afterwards.

Hall pulled off a series of saves for the home side who were up 1-0 in the first three minutes, courtesy of a strike by skipper Allan Douglas jr.

Douglas managed to make the most of an early one-on-one opportunity against Eagles 'keeper Tahj Bell and slid the ball underneath the tall custodian from close range.

After the early goal, it seemed as though Colts were never really interested in the game with their skipper and defender Neil Paynter holding the side together as Eagles went looking for the equaliser.

But with the possession largely in their favour, the West End side could not find a way past Hall, who even controlled a shot on his chest such was his confidence.

The hosts had a chance to make it 2-0 and make it a tall order for any comeback by their opponents but Douglas had his first effort saved by Bell and saw his second chance go wide of the post.

Eagles went down to 10 men after Marlon Rojas was sent off in the 73rd minute after a clash with Jelani Carlington.

However, this seem to inspire them as they found an equaliser in the 79th minute through substitute Anthony Hunter, whose shot was deflected off Paynter as Hall scrambled in an attempt to make the save.

Detroy Smith was then shown the red card for a reckless challenge in the 88th minute, leaving the two sides even at 10-men apiece.

The match then went into a penalty shoot-out where Hall proved to be the deciding factor, making himself big in goal and saving two spot-kicks to send his side through to the New Year's Day final in St. David's.

"Both teams struggled at times but in Bermuda football as long as you hang around and stick it out, anything can happen," said Hall.

"When we both went down a man I was more concerned about our focus then anything else. As long as everyone did their own job, then I thought we would be ok.

"We have done the job and got the easy road to the final, but it's not over yet.

"But we will enjoy this and focus on what is next which is a final."
