Hats off to Chelsea for winning in style

Congratulations to Chelsea for winning the Premier League last Sunday. And they won it in style, crushing Wigan at Stamford Bridge.

But I never really had any doubts that they were going to take the title going into that final game. They were always going to be too good for Wigan, especially at home. They turned it up a notch and brought a six-pack to the party.

Now Chelsea will try and win the FA Cup today at Wembley against Portsmouth. Obviously the league winners will be strong favourites going into the match, especially against Portsmouth who have been relegated. How rare is that? A team that is going down get into the FA Cup final.

Personally I hope Portsmouth come out all guns blazing. They have nothing to lose and it would be a good way to end a really tough season. It is a one-off game and anything can happen ¿ but the odds are heavily in Chelsea's favour.

I was sad to hear the news that Zola has left West Ham. I really hoped he would stay but when new owners come in they often want to pick their own man ¿ and let's face it, the relationships between Zola and the new owners was not the best. It is sad for West Ham and sad for football. You could see how much the players adored him.

I don't know who is going to come in but I have heard rumours that it could be Martin Jol or perhaps Mark Hughes. Who knows? I personally would like to see Harry Redknapp return. Maybe he will someday because he certainly has a great love for the club. Like me, it was where he started.

But I do know that the squad needs to be strengthened ¿ money must be spent. And I hope that whoever comes in keeps playing the West Ham way.

While the Premier League title was settled last weekend, this weekend will be the final day in Spain and Italy. And like the Premier League it is going right down to the wire in both countries.

In Spain, Barcelona have the chance to win their 20th league title providing they beat Valladolid at the Camp Nou. Or they could win the title if they match Real Madrid's result. Real take on Malaga away. Both Barca and Real have been dumped out of the Champions League so this is their final chance of some silverware for the season.

I would have to think that Barca will win at home where they have been so good and so, like Manchester United last weekend, if Barca win it doesn't matter what Real do.

In Italy it looks as if Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan will take the title as they only have to beat lowly Siena who are fighting off relegation. And if they do win the league it will be Inter's fifth consecutive title which says a lot although Inter players and fans are desperate for the Champions League trophy which they will play for in a week's time against Bayern Munich.

If Inter somehow do slip up, I expect Roma to pounce. They play Chievo Verona at the same time tomorrow.

The World Cup initial squads have been announced this week and as usual there were surprises.

First of all Brazilian manager Dunga did not pick Ronaldinho.

I was hoping to see the former World Player of the Year in South Africa but then again Dunga has not picked Ronaldinho for Brazil for over a year. Ronaldinho's final year at Barcelona was not the greatest and he became out of shape.

But this season I think he has been very good. He has looked sharp for AC Milan but I suppose Dunga has his reasons. And let's face it ¿ Brazil under Dunga were the top qualifiers for the World Cup from the South American zone and they also won the Confederations Cup last year in South Africa.

Dunga hasn't done a lot wrong but many fans in Brazil were anxious that Ronaldinho be included.

I would have loved to see the young kid from Santos, Neymar, picked. He is only a teenager but I have watched him this past year and he is absolutely brilliant. They say he is the new Robinho and could be even better.

Diego Maradona has also made a few strange decisions. But unlike Dunga who has had Brazil winning in the lead up to the World Cup, Maradona has not been that successful in his time in charge.

He left out Inter Milan's Cambiasso and Zanetti which I can't quite figure out. These two players have helped Inter reach the Champions League final, never mind what they have done in the Serie A and also they helped Inter win the Italian Cup. They are great players.

In fact ,Cambiasso has never played for Maradona ¿ figure that one out. I think he may have been called up once only to sit on the bench. These guys are experienced players and that is what you need when you go to something like the World Cup.

I hope Maradona is not expecting Lionel Messi to do everything on his own.
