Hogges plump for BAA

Bermuda Hogges will play all of their PDL home matches this season at BAA Field rather than the National Sports Centre (NSC).

The Hogges have been interested in moving to BAA for some time and will stage their first match of the season at the Woodlands Road venue next Friday against Reading United.

It is understood the Hogges were forking out around $2,000 to rent the National Sports Centre (NSC) for each of their home games last term, although it's believed that sum had been far greater before the credit crunch.

Club president Shaun Goater told The Royal Gazette last summer: "We're very interested in moving to BAA and they're interested in having us."

The proposal was first mooted two years ago when the Hogges held two home matches at BAA Field. Since then the facility has undergone a million dollar facelift, complete with state-of-the-art synthetic pitch and floodlights.

Playing on BAA's artificial pitch could assist with Hogges' game style as their players have been training on a similar surface at BFA Field during pre-season.

n Khano Smith came on as a second-half substitute in New England Revolution's 0-0 draw at home against San Jose Earthquakes.

The Bermuda international entered the fray after 70 minutes in last Saturday's match.

Next up for Revolution is a friendly against Portuguese club Benfica today at Gillette Stadium.

They then return to league action on Saturday at Toronto FC.
