Hood poised to go top
First Division new-boys Robin Hood could go top of the table tonight if they beat Ireland Rangers at BAA Field, writes Derek deChabert.
Unbeaten Hood have yet to concede a goal in the league this season and would go ahead of table-toppers St.David's by one point should they see off sixth-placed Rangers.
But midfielder Teddy Terceira insists Hood are not getting carried away despite their superb start to the campaign and expects a tough match against Rangers, who lost 3-2 against Young Men's Social Club on Sunday.
"Our season so far is good," said Terceira. "We have put in the work and took in the guidance from Andrew (Bascome) and stayed together. We now want to keep up the momentum that we have.
"It's an exciting prospect to be top of the table, but the title isn't won in November. It's a big deal, but it won't break or make our season.
"We want to stay organised, stay together as a team, defend as a team and we should get a result if we apply ourselves."
With manager Paul Scope taking charge of the team on matchdays and esteemed coach Andrew Bascome putting the players through their paces during mid-week training, the Hood seem to have struck up a winning formula.
And Terceria believes the experience of Boulevard boss, Bascome, has been a major factor behind the Hood's surprise start to the season.
"Andrew's experience is second to none and it was certainly something we needed jumping into a league that's unfamiliar to most of us," he said.
"He has been exactly what we needed to succeed and it has been exciting to work with him.
"The team is excited and we want to work under him and believe in what he thinks we can do.
"We have started to win games, he makes us want to play football and it has been truly enjoyable."
