In-form Duffy finishes third
Flora Duffy chalked up another impressive performance yesterday, placing third in a world class field at the Apple Triathlon in Kelowna, British Columbia.
The event, which was also the Canadian Championship and part of the ITU Pan American Cup, saw victory go to Canadian star Paula Finley who has won the last two World Cup events.
But Duffy wasn't far behind.
On the Olympic course, the Bermudian was second out of the water (1500 metres) and then challenged Finley and another Canadian during the 40 kilometre cycle. However, she finally ran out steam on the 10K run, taking third place just three minutes behind the winner.
Duffy, who won a silver medal at the CAC Games last month, said her confidence is high ahead of next month's Under-23 World Championships in Budapest.
"I couldn't have asked for it to go any better and I felt strong throughout," she said. "I think I performed better than when I won a medal at the CAC Games.
"I'm not sure what the Under-23 field will look like but I'm happy with the way things are going."
Finishing times weren't available last night.
