Injury-hit Bermuda sweating on Foggo
The injury problems that have plagued Bermuda's cricket team over the last seven days have struck again.
Chris Foggo, who only came into the squad on Thursday to replace the injured Jekon Edness for the game against Canada is a doubt for this weekend's Twenty20 competition.
Team physio Craig Brown is working around the clock on a neck problem that Foggo picked up during his return, in the hope that the opener will be able to play some part in the tournament.
Foggo was originally left out of the squad for the ICC Americas Championship after injuring a hand in training, but had recovered enough to replace Edness and scored 53 in the defeat to the Canadians.
With Justin Pitcher also still recovering from an injured right shoulder, Bermuda may have to go into the weekend with just 12 fit players to choose from.
Even then, there are several other players carrying knocks. Jordan DeSilva (ankle), Kevin Tucker (shoulder) and Janeiro Tucker (knee) are all being held together with several rolls of strapping.
David Moore's side at least have a slightly easier route to tomorrow's semi-final, after avoiding USA, Canada and Argentina, who are all grouped together.
Bermuda play Cayman Islands and Bahamas at the National Sports Centre today, with their semi-final also due to be played at the same venue.
The two sides in Bermudas group played each other at the NSC yesterday, on the opening day of the competition.
Batting first, Bahamas crawled to a paltry 101 for seven from their 20 overs, and in reply Cayman crusied to victory with eight wickets and five overs remaining.
In the day's other game at Bailey's Bay, USA scraped a narrow two wicket win over Argentina.
Chasing Argentina's 183 for six, the USA finished on 184 for eight, with 11 balls remaining.
Comfortable at 99 for three at one stage, the US then collapsed to 176 for eight, before escaping what was almost a shock defeat.
