Baltimore Blast are in the play-offs once again and this time it will be a tough journey.

The 8-6 defeat by Philadelphia Kixx last week in overtime at home leaves us with no chance of winning the league title.

Now it is a case of wait and see who we will be facing in the first round. It could be Monterrey or Philadelphia. Both teams are fighting to make the last spot.

This week, as promised, I want to give you a timeline of our events with the Island Soccer League (ISL) as we move forward towards our fourth season.

We are looking to make many changes this year, changes that will help with the entertainment and also encourage players to play at a higher level.

One change we're looking at is having BAA as our official training ground for all the teams and having fans play a part in selecting the All-Star players and MVP at each game.

Here is what you could expect in the upcoming weeks ahead.

April 1– ISL teams will be holding try-outs for two weeks (location TBA)

April 13 – Press release of our title sponsor and new ventures for 2010 season

April 16 – ISL/Hope4Life Super Draft at our official hotel the Grotto Bay Beach Resort starting at 7 p.m. At this event also, the eight Netball /ISL coaches will be releasing their protected players which guarantee them their spot on the team for the ISL Netball tournament in September. The protected players for netball will be doing appearances with the ISL soccer players.

April 17 – Promotion day with ISL footballers and netball players at our title sponsors location, ISL/hope4Life new song and schedule released. 5000 CDs with schedule will be handed out.

April 27– Pre-season for ISL starts

May 21 – First ISL game at the National Sports Centre starting at 7.15 p.m. (double header)

As mentioned in last week's column we are looking to host an ISL/Hope4Life netball tournament. After the netball coaches release their two to four players protected of their 12-player team on April 16, they will then hold try-outs in early July to scout the rest of their eight to 10 players they will need to select for the Netball Draft in late July.

There have been many netball players asking how they will be able to get involved with the draft and what are the requirements to play.

The first requirement is that each player has to be signed up with the Netball Association and over the age of 16. Players from all ages and leagues could get drafted as long as they are registered with Association.

Any player not registered with the Association and who would like to register so they can be illegible for the ISL/Hope4Life Netball tournament need to e-mail ISLnetball@logic.bm.

Understand that this is a joint venture with the Bermuda Netball Association and we want to make sure we do everything to help develop their sport in Bermuda.

Until Next time!
