ISL's All Stars set to make history
The highlight of the Island Soccer League (ISL) season is set to kick off this evening with the Legends match scheduled to precede the All-Star match at the National Sports Centre (NSC).
The All-Star game will be televised on Fox Soccer Channel next Saturday and will be the first internationally televised match out of Bermuda.
ISL commissioner David Bascome is ecstatic about he believes will be a historic event in local sports.
"We have been pleased with the following of the league," said Bascome. "I feel we are making great strides in our development.
"This weekend we are looking to fill the stands and show the world we have much pride in our country and in our sports.
"We are about to make history with the first-ever local game on Fox and I want people around the world to understand that we are proud people and have great talent here in Bermuda, both in sports and in the entertainment industry.
"So come and join the ISL All-Stars as they make history today.
"With Fox Soccer now apart of the ISL All-Star game, this will be a special event."
With many of the All-Stars being selected due to their commitment and dedication to their team's season, Royal goalkeeper Zane (Superman) Hendrickson declared that those chosen were humbled by the opportunity.
"It is an honour to be selected to the All-Star match," said Hendrickson. "I am humbled by this experience as all the hard work from the pre-season right up to now has paid off – not only from this personal achievement for myself, but also my team-mates.
"Many people will say that a good goalkeeper will always keep his side in a match and me being selected is an testament to not only my ability but also my team's and my coach's faith in me.
"This shows that with hard work comes reward so I will enjoy the experience and have fun, that is what the league is for."
Entertainment will follow the matches with local artists Troy Anthony, C'Daynger, Split Personality, Black, Bonnie Easton, Roache Killa, ISL cheerleaders, H and H Gombeys performing.
There will also be an appearance by the ISL's own dancer 'Flash', who has been thrilling the crowds at league matches.
All Legend players have been asked to report to the NSC no later than 4.30 p.m.
