Keeper shown yellow card

Willow Cuts wicketkeeper/batsman Antoine Bean is believed to have received the first yellow card under Bermuda Cricket Board's new disciplinary procedure.

It's understood the young player was summoned to a BCB disciplinary hearing and was banned for three matches for committing Level One and Two offences in his team's recent Open League match with Cleveland County.

Bean is alleged to have stood his ground after being given out and sworn at the umpire.

Earlier this year the Board introduced the controversial card system in an attempt to curb unruly behaviour in the domestic game.

"Nowhere else in the world is this kind of behaviour accepted or tolerated," commented BCB vice-president Allen Richardson in a previous interview with this newspaper. "We have let it go on for far too long, but no more."

He said umpires would receive the Board's full backing.

"We are determined to stamp out disrespect. If a player refuses to walk, swears at an umpire or at the opposition they will be immediately written up."
