Khano back as Bermuda look to complete 'double' over Barbados

Strong performance: Bermuda's Ralph Bean in action against Barbados on Friday night. The two teams play again tonight.

Bermuda's in-form national team will be striving to achieve the 'double' over Barbados in tonight's second World Cup qualifying warm-up match at the National Sports Centre (NSC).

The Gombey Warriors triumphed over the Bajans 2-1 on Friday night at the NSC, courtesy of goals from stopper Omar Shakir and winger Damon Ming.

Coach Kenny Thompson is likely to keep faith with the majority of the victorious starting eleven, although it is thought he will want to run the rule over some of his squad players not used on Friday.

Inspirational New England Revolution attacker Khano Smith arrived back on the Island on Saturday and will be unleashed upon Barbados at some stage of tonight's match.

The Bermuda squad jet off to Trinidad on Thursday ahead of Sunday's first leg qualifier against the Soca Warriors in Port of Spain.

Trinidad were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Jamaica on Saturday in their final warm-up game. Luton Shelton converted an 89th-minute penalty to draw Jamaica level.

Shelton ran onto a through ball but was brought down by Trinidad goalkeeper Clayton Ince. Barbadian referee Rayon Small awarded a penalty and Shelton picked himself up to send the 'keeper the wrong way from the spot-kick.

Trinidad, who became the smallest nation to qualify for the World Cup when they earned a berth at Germany two years' ago, head into qualifying on a two-game winless streak having been beaten 3-0 by England on June 1.

Evan Taylor tested Ince twice in the first 22 minutes but it was Khaleem Hyland who gave the Soca Warrior the lead. Jason Scotland laid it off to Hyland, who struck a low left-footed drive past Jamaican goalkeeper Donovan Rickets into the right corner.

Jamaica dominated on the artificial turf of the Marvin Lee Stadium and started the second half strongly, only to have Marlon King waste three good chances in the first 10 minutes.

Against the run of play, Hyland nearly doubled the advantage on 63 minutes but flashed his shot wide.

Both nations begin World Cup qualifying on Sunday with Jamaica taking on Bahamas in Kingston.

Jamaica then travel to Bahamas three days later while Trinidad will make their trip to Bermuda on June 22.

Tonight's match between Bermuda and Barbados kicks off at 7.30 p.m.
