Kids get a kick out of mini-rugby programme
Union's Mini-Rugby Programme.
As part of the BRFU's Youth Development Scheme, the children aged between five and 10 have been learning rugby skills, practising drills and playing tag rugby since the programme started last November.
Mini-Rugby organiser Martin Lancaster said: "I am absolutely delighted with the support we have had for this programme from both parents and children.
Several of the dads have volunteered their services as coaches and the enthusiasm shown by the children has been tremendous. Next Year we hope to increase the numbers to 40-plus and hope to introduce a mini tag rugby league.'' Each of the children completed an end of season skills assessment programme and were awarded a certificate and a medal to commemorate their achievement.
Tag rugby is a non-contact sport suitable to boys and girls from five-years-old and up.
Top marks: Children pose with their certificates and medals after graduating from the Mini-Rugby programme.
