Logan looks for Hogges chance

Former Baltimore Blast professional Logan Alexander said he would relish the chance to play for Bermuda Hogges in the Premier Development League (PDL) when the season kicks off in just over a month's time.

With ex-North Village and Bermuda team-mates Keishen Bean and Tyrell Burgess having already agreed to play for the franchise, Alexander would also like to put pen to paper after unsuccessful trials with Harrisburg Islanders.

"Since getting released from Harrisburg City Islanders training camp, I have been weighing the next steps in my football career," said Alexander.

"I haven't been approached yet but if the opportunity presented itself I would definitely consider it.

"It's always a pleasure to play at home in front of Bermudians."

The pacey defender said he would jump at the chance to link up with some of his former national team-mates who have already committed themselves to turning out for the Hogges.

"To be able to come back and play with the likes of Keishen, Tyrell, and Angelo (Simmons) would be great since we have all played in the national team programme together at one point.

"They are all very good players and we would be able to build from each other's experience while playing on the same side.

"Also it would be great to play with some of Bermuda's up and coming talents like Nahki Wells who just came off a great season.

"I think it's the responsibility of experienced athletes, no matter what sport, to bring back what they have learned abroad and to expose and prepare the next generation.

"This is how the sport develops locally and also better prepares those leaving the Island for what they may face."

"Playing for the Blast and training with the Islanders has opened my eyes to what skills and dedication it takes to play at that level every day.

"With players like Keishen, Tyrell and Angelo already signed with the Hogges for this season it would definitely prove to be a chance for me to continue developing as a professional."

The PDL has 68 teams competing in four conferences, split into eight regional divisions.

PDL rules dictate that a maximum of eight players on each team's 26-man roster can be over 23 years old, while at least three players on each team's roster must be 18 or younger.

Hogges will play in the Eastern Conference Mid Atlantic Division.

Their opening game is against Reading United at the National Sports Centre (NSC) on Friday, May 28.
