Logie shares coaching expertise

Ex-Bermuda national cricket team coach Gus Logie has shared his coaching expertise in a two-day workshop at Queen's Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad.

Trinidadian Logie, who stood down as Bermuda coach in September, joined fellow former West Indian internationals Tony Gray and Ian Allen last weekend in delivering presentations to around 18 North Zone Cricket Coaches Association coaches.

Former Windies coach, Logie, who held the reins when they won the Champions Trophy in 2004, lectured about the expanding commercial aspect of the game in the region and coaching in general.

He is almost certainly to be succeeded in Bermuda by another ex-Windies coach, David Moore, who could begin his role early in the new year.

Until Moore's arrival, local certified coaches Clevie Wade, Andre Manders and Herbie Bascome will oversee Bermuda's initial preparations for April's Intercontinental Shield match with Namibia in African.

Australian Moore, who flew to Bermuda in October to meet with Bermuda Cricket Board officials, spent time as an assistant to Bennett King who took over from Logie as Windies coach in 2004.

Wicketkeeper Moore played first-grade cricket in Sydney with the St George and Waverley Cricket Clubs between 1984 and 1993, making his first-class debut in 1986-87. In 2002 he was appointed as senior coach of the Commonwealth Bank Cricket Academy (CBCA), working alongside the likes of King and Troy Cooley.
