North Village soccer manager Scott Morton has joined the ranks of the national coaching pool.

Morton, who led the Red Devils to three trophies in his first season at the helm, has been called up by Bermuda Football Association along with Paul Scope, who coaches the Robin Hood team in the Commercial League.

BFA coach of education and development, Jon Beard, confirmed the additions to the pool which is topped by men's national team coach, Mark Trott.

"Scott has worked for the Association before as he assisted Kenny Thompson with the recent national under-17 team,'' said Beard.

"He played for Dandy Town and Vasco, before turning to coaching. He has attended coaching courses in Holland and Brazil and has C licence certification with the United States Soccer Federation.'' Scope also has a wealth of footballing experience under his belt.

"Paul was on the books of Middlesbrough before moving on to play for FC Blankenberg in the Belgian League,'' Beard said.

"After his stint in Belgium he played for a number of British semi-professional teams, such as Gateshead and St Albans.

"Paul came to Bermuda some years ago to work in the insurance industry where he is currently a company president. Since arriving here he played with BAA and Vasco.'' Scope recently received his BFA B licence certification.

"Both coaches will soon be appointed to work with national squads,'' Beard said.

Meanwhile, the national side are gearing up for their trip to Tennessee this weekend.

The team will play the Nashville Metros of the A League and also an Hispanic All-Stars team.

BFA recruit new coaches From Page 17 Metros general manager Devinder Sandhu said he was very excited about the visit.

"As far as international soccer is concerned this will be the first time Nashville is on the map,'' he said. "It is great recognition for Nashville from the most popular sport in the world.

"It's also a tremendous compliment for the Metros organisation to be able to host and play in a game of this calibre.

Sandhu added: "It is also a great honour for an amateur Hispanic team from our community to be invited to play a match against Bermuda. We hope the community come out and watch these historic matches.''
