National team seamer Hodsoll mourning loss

Seamer Kyle Hodsoll

Bermuda Cricket Board (BCB) have offered their sincerest condolences to national team seam bowler Kyle Hodsoll whose mother passed away earlier this week following a lengthy bout with illness.

The late Sharon Hodsoll, sister of former St.George's cricketer Ricky Hodsoll, will be laid to rest today at St.George's Methodist Cemetery following a home going service at St.George's Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Speaking on behalf of his BCB colleagues, national coach Gus Logie said: "The Board express their sincerest condolences as well as all the national team cricketers."

In a show of compassion, Hodsoll, who has been named in Bermuda's World Cup qualifying squad that will compete in South Africa next month, has been excused from training this week to mourn the loss of his late mother.

"We have given Kyle the option of taking a few days off from training this week.

"He did turn up to training but we gave him the option to do whatever he has to do to get himself together and he will be travelling with us on Sunday," added Logie.

Members of Bermuda's national cricket squad will also show support for their grieving team-mate by attending today's funeral service.

In lieu of flowers relatives and friends are kindly asked to make donations to the Educational Fund set up for national team cricketer Hodsoll, who represented Bermuda at the Under-19 World Cup and successfully completed a six-week stint at the Brisbane Cricket Academy in Australia last year.
