Association's Fall Series races held on Sunday -- and by all accounts it was welcomed by most of the crews.

More typical of Saturday fleet racing, the event featured two races held back to back on an Olympic triangle course in the Great Sound, requiring crews to be more active and keeping the fleet in closer proximity, so adding to the excitement.

Greg Vasic in Reckless claimed combined race honours in classes one and three while Penny Simmons skippered High Energy to victory in class two. The cruising class was won by Matthew Cainey in No Regrets .

At the start of the first race the wind had dropped to almost nil and those boats at the committee boat end struggled to make the starting line. But Tonka (Gary Venning) and Tempest (Arthur Whalley), who were positioned at the pin end, found a little puff and took advantage, pulling away into an early lead.

On reaching the windward mark it became obvious the wind was changing and on the second leg of the race, which should have been a reach, the fleet were almost close hauled. On arriving at the leeward mark the wind had backed up 90 degrees, prompting the race committee to move the windward mark for the next leg.

High Energy crossed the line first followed by Tonka and Crew Cut (Marc Finnegan) and on corrected time Tonka took the honours.

In class three Reckless won by a convincing margin over three J24s who had to drift the last leg as the wind by this time had completely dropped.

Those in the cruising class sailed a slightly shorter course, but with light winds and no spinnakers, they still had their work cut out.

No Regrets led home Scheherezade (Leslie Swainson) followed by Ardara (Phil Wilson).

The second race started with a steadier and slightly stronger breeze and once again it was High Energy that pulled away from the fleet to take a commanding lead with Crew Cut finishing second. In class three, Reckless again led the way while the cruising class saw Scheherezade beat out No Regrets for first place.

Class 3 PHRF: 1 Reckless , Greg Vasic; 2 Gripper , Jonathan Custance-Baker; 3 Tempest , Arthur Whalley; 4 Cyclone , Jim Riley.

Cruising class: 1 No Regrets , Matthew Cainey; 2 Scheherezade , Leslie Swainson; 3 Ardara , Phil Wilson; 4 Temptation , Claude Guay.
