Olson and Redding hold on to seal win
Redding CC professional Sam Olson added an impressive 18 points to his stableford total at Mid Ocean Club yesterday to claim the professional division in the 56th Bermuda Goodwill tournament.
It was a double triumph for Olson, who alongside team mates Peter Hayes, Bill Fow and Loren Findorak, captured the Team Net trophy as well.
The quartet shot an impressive 14-under par 57 at the Tucker's Town course yesterday to finish with a 236 45-under par total for the tournament. After leading by just two shots going into the final round Redding eventually finished six-shots clear of main rivals Sugarbush Resort.
Leaders for the first two rounds of the competition, Sugarbush led by Ron Philo Jr, and amateurs Julian Harrison, Wade Jerrett and Robert Gunn shot nine-under at Tucker's Point giving them a four day total of 39 under par 242 for the tournament.
Sunnybrook, GC, PA led by Rick Flesher and amateurs Bruce Eckert, Richard Boothby and Jim Talbot finished in third on 38 under, 243 for the tournament. Riddell's Bay, BDA led by Scott Roy and amateurs Max Abend, Mark Beasley and Chris Fullerton finished top local team and fourth overall on 36 under, 245 for the tournament.
Meanwhile in the senior division Matthew Yustin, Lambton Golf & CC professional led his team of Mark Keulemon, Mark Mccallum and Tim Macklnier to a romping victory by shooting an incredible 17 under par at Belmont Hills the low round of the tournament. They finished at 47 under par 234 for the tournament.
Eight shots back and taking second place honors was the team of Bellewood GC, ed by Tony Perla and amateurs Terry Woodward, Jamie Wolsky and Ron Dirienzi. They finished with a 62 eight-under today at Riddell's Bay and 39 under par 242 overall.
