Outerbridge six-pack inspires Bay

Burton Outerbridge enjoyed a six-wicket haul and former Somerset stalwart Wendell White struck a half-century to lead Bailey's Bay to a comfortable six-wicket victory over the West Enders in this Premier Divsion match at Sea Breeze Oval.

Medium pacer Outerbridge took six for 54 off 10 overs while White led the team's positive response with an undefeated knock of 56.

Ricky Hoyte's batting heroics, which produced 60, enabled Somerset to reach a respectable total. Hoyte added stability after the side had lost opener Jermaine Warner for 12.

Hoyte and Azeem Pitcher (19) put on 73 for the second wicket. .

In addition to the splendid bowling of Outerbridge, veteran player-coach Irving Romain returned impressive figures of two wickets for five from 5.4 overs with three maidens.

The home side reached their winning target in 40.4 overs while losing just four wickets. White led the response, Cal (Patches) Dill gave valuable support with a solid 40. Opener Terry Fray chipped in with 18 while Domico Hollis hit 15 and skipper Stephen Outerbridge 11.

At the end it was White and Romaine who took the team to victory, the latter securing it with a blistering six to mid-wicket off spinner Azeem Pitcher.

Hoyte was the pick of the Somerset bowlers with three wickets for 37 runs off 10 overs with a maiden.
