Pair give Hogges food for thought

The Bermuda Hogges will have some difficult decisons to make in the next couple of days as they welcome back their players from the national team.

In the absence of the likes of Sammy DeGraff, John Barry Nusum, and Damon Ming several trialists and squad players have shown that they are more than capable of competing in the USL.

A convincing 3-1 win over Western Mass Pioneers on Sunday, coupled with an encouraging performance in the 1-0 defeat to the same team the day before means that the Hogges management team of Kyle Lightbourne and Shaun Goater have some tough decisions to make.

With the Hogges having already suggested that two or three trialists would be brought into the squad permanently, it just remains for the USL to give their backing to such a move.

Of the trialists Bleen Bean and Keith Jennings did more than enough to suggest that they can compete at this level, and would certainly add something extra to the Hogges.

And Lightbourne and Goater are known to have been impressed with the impact both players made during the last three games.

They've also been impressed by several squad players who have taken their chance to show what they can do while some of the regular starters have been away.

Jared Peniston, Darius Cox, Jelani Scott, and Aljame Zuill all put in performances worthy of a second chance, and it is by no means certain that players like DeGraff and Ming will walk straight back into the side.

The Hogges face the Charlotte Eagles at the National Sports Centre on Saturday, and should be close to full strength for the game.

The only doubt that remains surrounds John Barry Nusum, who was injured in the first half of the game against Trinidad and Tobago on Sunday.
