Pair head to UK to chase their dreams
Bermuda Hogges will be without Tyrell Burgess and Quadir Maynard for their three-game away trip with both key players heading to the UK as they look to further their football careers.
Burgess has been invited for pre-season trials at English Conference side Gateshead while Maynard will be joining Bromley FC's academy, whose first team play in the Conference South.
In the absence of the pair of wingers, Hogges have promoted national academy players Kori Goddard, Daniel Andrade and Jari Minors to their 21-man roster which leaves the Island today for the East Coast.
St.David's goalkeeper Goddard, Somerset Eagles defender Andrade and striker Minors are all preparing for upcoming World Cup qualifiers with the Bermuda national Under-20 team.
Bermuda Football Association (BFA) technical director, Derek Broadley, said the talented trio would all benefit from the Hogges road trip which includes matches against Hampton Roads Piranhas on Friday, Reading United on Sunday and Northern Virginia Royals next Tuesday.
"Travelling with the Hogges will certainly help their development. We're travelling with a big squad as we have three games in just five days," said Broadley.
Burgess, 24, is looking for a route back into the pro ranks after being released by Vancouver Whitecaps and will be looking to impress Gateshead manager, and ex-Newcastle midfielder, Ian Bogie.
Maynard, 16, will be spending the next two years at Bromley FC's academy where he will link-up with coach Murray Jones, who worked as Broadley's assistant at Crystal Palace.
There is also an educational component to Maynard's UK move with the Boulevard player having to take his BTEC qualifications at Ravensbourne School.
