Rangers' Bean slapped with two-year ban

Southampton Rangers midfielder Jahni Bean has been slapped with a two-year ban from all forms of football for pushing a referee in the face during last season's Friendship Trophy final.

Bermuda Football Association's (BFA) disciplinary committee made the decision after finding him guilty of bringing the game into disrepute earlier this week.

Trouble flared throughout last month's bad tempered final at the National Sports Centre (NSC), which saw Bean and two other players dismissed by referee Francis.

Both Rangers and North Village, who won the match 3-2 after extra-time, were found guilty of failing to control their players and supporters.

Rangers have been placed on one year's probation while Village were hit with a $300 fine.

Somerset Eagles' Antwan Russell has once again landed himself in hot water with the BFA who have banned him for eight games for foul and abusive language during last term's FA Cup final against Devonshire Cougars.

The controversial striker has been put on two-years' probation to run consecutively with his current probation for head-butting Rangers defender Kemon Smith in a Premier Division match back in November, 2009.

Other players to be suspended at the BFA's recent hearing were PHC defender Fabian Frankson (two games) for elbowing an opponent, Ireland Rangers' Reginald Baker (six games) for assaulting a referee, Boulevard's Jahleel Crockwell (six games and one year's probation) for kicking an opponent in the face and Dandy Town's Raymond Butterfield (three games) for head-butting.

Boulevard have also been fined $300 for failing to control their players who did not bother to collect their losers medals at the end of the PDL Martonmere Cup Final.
