Rangers triumph in battle of Premier Division big guns

Southampton Rangers moved to the top of the Premier Division 50-over league with a convincing seven-wicket win over Bailey's Bay at Southampton Oval on Sunday.

In the battle between the last two unbeaten teams in the league, it was Bay who were put to the sword by the hosts, compliments of a match winning spell produced by Quinton Burch who snatched five wickets for 34 runs.

In the end, the visitors scored a paltry 114 with Stephen Outerbridge being the only batsman to make any serious noise with the bat.

In reply to the total posted by Bay, Rangers made light work of the run chase with Curtis Jackson leading the charge with a knock of 35.

Rangers ended the match at 119 for three. David Lovell took two wickets for Bay.

Devonshire Rec. made it two wins out of two over the weekend to move themselves off the bottom of the table. They beat Somerset on Saturday and Willow Cuts on Sunday.

They got their first win of the season when they beat Somerset by six wickets at Devonshire Rec.

Batting first, the visitors were skittled out for a meagre 102, with Reid Jones hitting their top score of 37. Jodi Maroni led the Devonshire attack with four wickets.

In reply, Stephen Bremar was Rec's top scorer with 33 to lead the hosts to the finish line at 103 for four. Marcus Johnson took wickets for Somerset.

On Sunday, Devonshire beat Willow Cuts by three wickets.

Jermaine Trott led the Cuts batting with 36 and was assisted by Deunte Darrell (33) as the side were bowled out for 150, with Herbie Bascome taking three for 64 for Devonshire.

Derrick Brangman led the charge with 35 not out as the visitors crawled over the finish line at 153 for eight.

Kevon Fubler took three wickets for Cuts in a losing effort.

Ricardo Brangman jr's knock of 58 couldn't stop PHC from losing yet again, this time to Somerset, who managed to bowl them out for a defendable 261.

Joshua Gilbert led the Somerset attack with three wickets.

In reply, skipper Jacobi Robinson scored 86 as the hosts won by four wickets. Cal Waldron took three wickets for PHC.

Also on Sunday, in First Division action, Western Stars beat Flatts by five wickets to get back to winning ways.

Reggie Baker scored 30 for Flatts who were bowled out for 173. Andre Manders grabbed four wickets for 10 runs.

In reply, Kevin Hurdle scored 83 not out to lead the home team to victory while Dale Benjamin took two wickets for Flatts.

St. George's continued their march back to the Premier Division with a 52-run win over Young Men's Social Club.

Batting first, St. George's were led by Michel Paynter's knock of 107 not out as they scored 246 for six.

Jaymo Durham took three wickets for Social Club.

In reply Charlie Marshall scored 44 as the visitors were bowled all out for 194.

Rudell Pitcher took four wickets in the win.

With games being postponed in both Premier and First Division for various reasons on Saturday, only two matches were able to get underway in both divisions.

In First Division action, Young Men's Social Club dismantled Warwick by nine wickets.

Batting first, Warwick managed only 74 with Lyle Millett scoring 20 while Garnell Hollis took four wickets for five runs to do most of the damage.

Hollis then scored 37 not out to get Social Club the win at 77 for one.

Benjamin James grabbed Warwick's only wicket.
