Last weekend Baltimore Blast travelled to Monterrey Mexico to play our ninth game of the season.

We played a good game considering our injuries but it was not enough to come away with a win.

We started the game applying pressure and went up 4-0 but could not hold onto the lead. As the game progressed we found ourselves trailing 7-4 due to a couple of mental errors.

Then after pulling our goalkeeper out to go with a sixth attacker with two minutes left in the game, we managed to score to make it 7-6 but with very little time left on the clock to get more opportunities.

With a record now of 5-4 and tied for first place we head to Milwaukee on Saturday for another battle. Winning away games are key if we want to defend the championship title.

This week I want to talk a little about the word 'responsibility' because some seem to have forgotten the meaning of the word.

The meaning of responsibility is: one taking care of duties, answering for your actions and being accountable.

Why is responsibility so important, you may ask? Well, responsibility is a core value for living honourable, making yourself accountable for your behaviour and being dependable when you have things to do.

It does amaze me when someone does something that is not responsible and that same person is surprised at the negative outcome they have received.

If I want to be successful then I am responsible for my planning, attitude and vision. I cannot and will not leave it up to anyone else because it is my job and destiny that will be at stake.

Ask yourself why some people fall short of their goals in life as an athlete, student, business person or parent. Then ask yourself why some always try to blame others for the reason things are not working out for them.

If we take care of our actions and be responsible for whatever duties we have in life it would help bring on a more positive outcome and we all could be proud and share the joys of success.

If we are to change things for a positive outcome then we must put our hands up high and take the responsibility for the things we have not done, then move forward.

We have to understand we can no longer hide behind the wall because the outcome of our lack of responsibility may not be exposed through us but through others.

My young people you must start being more by understand and accepting consequences for your actions and try to listen and correct your mistakes.

Complete your assignments and tasks, clean up after yourselves . . . you must do the right thing and apologise if wrong.

Look to help others in need, never give up and most important, understand the effect you have on others.

Remember when you blame others, you give up your power to change.

I quote Josiah Stamp: "It is easy to dodge our responsibilities, but we cannot dodge the consequences of dodging our responsibilities.

Until next time!
