Soccer seven get BFA scholarships

Seven of the Island's most promising players will further their education overseas as part of Bermuda Football Association's (BFA) Legends Scholarships Awards programme.

The third edition of the annual presentation at the National Sports Centre's cricket pavilion last week saw Tre Ming, Zeiko Lewis, Roger Lee, Shakhai Trott, Anthony Hunter, Dominick Wright and Philip Parsons receive grants ranging from $5,000 to $15,000.

In the past, the programme had only one scholarship designated specifically for a female but this year saw the best applicants awarded regardless of gender.

Bermuda international Roger Lee, who was awarded the Hon. Hugh Richardson Scholarship for $10,000, said: "Education is the key to success because there is always life after football, which means I have to concentrate in school and have to be focused along with having the right mentality. I am determined to be the best that I can."
